Abyss is a self-taught visual artist based in Athens, Greece. Working primarily with pencil, charcoal, acrylic, and oil paint, her practice explores the intersection of mysticism, nature, and the symbolic architecture of the human psyche.
Influenced by the Surrealists, she began with automatic techniques inspired by Breton and Ernst, gradually moving toward a dream-like realism evocative of Dalí and Magritte. Her work now inhabits the liminal space between the unconscious and the symbolic, incorporating spiritually charged imagery intended to act as both mirror and medicine—for the viewer and the self.
Nature features prominently in her work, not simply as subject but as sacred language. Through patterns—numerical, elemental, and emotional—she investigates how meaning is transmitted beyond words. Her process is intuitive and devotional, resulting in layered compositions that function as visual incantations or maps of inner transformation.
Abyss has exhibited in Athens, London, and Rome, and has taken part in international digital residencies.
